Apparently these condensing boilers only achieve their claimed efficiency if the flow return temp is below 55 degrees, Google this and you will find loads. Essentially you want the return temps as low as you can get them (I think), this though I think will be difficult as when it gets colder you will need to up the temps to get adequate
There are reasons why your heat pump does not reach temperature set on your thermostat. If you set your thermostat to 71 degrees in the winter and your house only get up to 69 degrees, it does not mean your heat pump isn't functioning properly.
The boiler is a Greenstar 27cdi and the setting for the water is set to e and should be on preheat mode,The display normally sits on 52 but i have no idea what the 52 means on the display,I thought if it was in preheat then you should get hot water pretty fast i can count at least 30 seconds before it tuns from cold to a bit warm.

When winter's winds and freezing temperatures cause a chill in your house, like most homeowners, you go straight to your thermostat and bump up the heat. Your heating system forces warm air throughout each room at regular intervals and seems to be working just fine.
On most winter days the boiler water temp would only get up to 130-140 degrees before the thermostat stopped calling for heat. On the coldest day of the winter the water might reach 160-170. On mild days the water only reached 120. My question is this. What can I do to keep the internal boiler temperature higher?
I have a 'Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 425 Combi Boiler' it was installed about 9months ago, for the past 9months the central heating and hot water have worked perfectly. Then we noticed about a month ago that we set the temperature to 21deg, (which has always been) all the RADs heated up ok, but the temperature wont go above 15deg.
The solution I found worked well was turn the thermostat down whilst I was out turn it back up when I was in but run a fan heater for the first 5-10 minutes in the lounge of kitchen to warm the air whilst the heating got up to temperature. The other problem you may have is most Combi boilers don't heat water and heating at the same time.
For a while, the thermostat would call for heat, but the boiler wouldn't fire up. The boiler casing was very, very hot, so I suspect overheat protection had kicked in. When the boiler does fire, it doesn't stay on for more than a minute and then goes of for 2-3 minutes before firing up again. Again, suspicious that it is overheating.
